For this first edition, I thought I would update everyone on the highlights of the AGM itself. Any feedback or suggestions for improvements are welcome – this is your site, so let us know what you want from it – you don’t need to wait for an AGM!
Changes to the Committee
The Committee stood down, and all posts were available for re-election. Some significant changes have taken place, and they are detailed below:
- Chairman John Frew remains
- Vice Chairman Gordon Alexander remains
- Secretary Lesley Sheridan remains
- Membership Secretary Lesley Sheridan has been replaced by Michelle Park
- Treasurer Morag McKnight stepped down – position to be filled
- PRO Colin Stewart has been replaced by Leah McKechnie
- Webmaster Colin Stewart remains
- Rally Director Gordon McIntyre has been replaced by George Bryson
- Competition Secretary David McDonald has been replaced by David Child
- Kames Director Scott Sheridan stepped down – position to be filled
- Grasstest Director Campbell Jamieson stepped down – position to be filled
- Chief Marshall Mick Rowe has been replaced by Alan Rae
- Social Secretary Vacant position has been filled by John Frew Jnr
- Committee Member Covered by Gordon McIntyre
Upgrading Kames
Before stepping down from the Committee, Scott managed to secure a grant of £18,000 to improve Kames. A programme of change has already started, with the grounds being improved, weeded and cleared. The trailer park has been levelled and we will be adding new toilets and shower facilities. As always, all help is welcome at workdays to carry out the work which won’t be done by contractors.
New Championship
East Ayrshire Car Club are proud to be involved in the new Lowlands Speed Championship. This will give people the chance to take part in sprints and hillclimbs in our local areas, and accumulate points for a championship. For the first year (2008), entry to this Championship will be free, and we hope to see some EACC winners in there! The Regulations will be on our website shortly, but you don’t need to wait – you can download them from www.scottish-sprinting.co.uk and send your form to David Baker.
